September 2025 Meeting Minutes
6:30pm | Preservation Station | Bonnie Anderson presiding
Annual Meeting & Block Party
We reviewed the business of the annual meeting in August: reading of the annual report and election for Board members for a 2-year term (Anderson, Fanion, Gonzalez, Thornton, Smith, and Sturge). The food, music, name tags, setup and cleanup crews were all discussed with a few suggestions about maybe pushing the potluck angle (rather than having so much commercially prepared food) and maybe having music that would invite dancing rather than just quiet listening.
Election of Officers
The current officers were reelected (President – Anderson; VP – Gonzalez; Treasurer – Trefethen; Secretary – Dobin)
Noise Camera
Salley gave some background on the new program to install a few noise cameras around the city. She volunteered to write a message to Councilor Baca, requesting placement of the mobile noise camera within our neighborhood. It is hoped a noise camera would reduce speeding on Lead and Broadway.
Community Building
Krista explored some ideas for community events and asked for volunteers. A pumpkin carving party has two volunteer leads, Danny and Chris, and the Board agreed to provide up to $200 for party supplies. A garage sale, a winter holiday party, and a presentation on historic Albuquerque were briefly discussed. People who want to work with Krista on event planning should contact her.
Freeway Expansion
Carlos gave an update on the proposed I-25 expansion project, explaining that for now the project is on hold.
Additional Items
Lizzy, a new neighbor on the north side of Central, praised her neighbors for welcoming her to the neighborhood but expressed alarm over an alley fire that occurred in the middle of the night shortly after she moved in. We discussed the problems we’ve had with arson in the neighborhood over the last few years and shared that we had found no certain solution to the problem.
