Discussion on the Future of our Neighborhood
Many neighbors shared thoughts about the future of our neighborhood.
- Our success is tied to the future of downtown
- Homeless problem is related to lack of affordable housing
- Our neighborhood’s density will increase due to casitas, duplexes, and multi-family units on vacant lots (incremental growth is good)
- Simplifying building permits and reducing parking requirements might be issues we should support
- Historic preservation will continue to be supported
- Crime and issues with ART may be addressed by recent project to invite national guard support
- Guaranteed income pilot may be a positive step
- Lack of young families may be tied to perception of local schools
- The City needs to invest in behavioral health services
