Greek Church update

Gary Mallory advised us about renovations being planned for the old fire station interior and wanted to let neighbors know if they had any questions about the interior renovations, they could contact him at 505-814-9868. Neighbors expressed concern about the lighting being installed and Gary agreed to meet with Ben and Bob to review the final plans before installation.

Vacant property/formerly First Baptist Church

Members of EDo have sent an email to selected local officials requesting the property owners, UNM, provide an update on their plans to re-use and re-purpose this historic building. Markela, from the mayor’s office, volunteered to set up a meeting between several Huning Highland neighbors (Krista, Carlos, Lizzy, and Danny) and Tim McGivern (the EDo member advocating on this issue) with UNM.

New law protecting pedestrians: Stop for Everyone

Markela presented details on the new City ordinance requiring motorists to stop at intersections where pedestrians are trying to cross, whether there is a marked crosswalk or not. Neighbors questioned how enforcement would be handled, recognizing that drivers in our city are going to need a lot of education on this new law.
