Annual report

Since our last annual meeting on August 2, 2025, here are the major issues that have come before the Board:

  • Neighborhood safety strategies, including reporting all criminal activity to the City

  • Support for “gentle density” through zoning changes to increase the supply of affordable housing

  • Continuing attention to delays of the at-grade pedestrian crossing at Central and the railroad tracks

  • Collaboration with the Lutheran School and the Greek Church regarding events and property improvements

  • Upgrades to neighborhood communication through social media and newsletter format

  • New and ongoing neighborhood events including a yard sale, pumpkin carving contest, Jane’s Walk, holiday party, and a July neighborhood discussion and patriotic snack contest

Other activities of the Board

  • Community garden activities continued into the 16th year of this volunteer organization. Members cover the costs of water irrigation and other costs were covered by donations.

  • The HHHDA website and newsletter were managed by Nick Fanion.  Krista Smith managed Facebook and Instagram accounts for the neighborhood.

  • Third year participation in the national Jane’s Walk in our neighborhood

  • 501(c)(4) status for HHHDA completed

  • Expenses for the annual meeting/block party on August 2, 2025, were $655.76 for live music and food

  • Net expenses for the Pumpkin Carving event - $86

  • Net expenses for the Holiday party - $674.44

  • Other expenses for the year included gas bills for the station - $439.49, insurance - $225, web fees - $46.38; preparation and filing fees for 501 c4 status and incorporation with New Mexico - $826.94

  • Revenue for the year was $140.60 (net from the Yard Sale)

  • The balance for this year totaled negative $2,813.41

Following a brief discussion of contributions from these members, and absent any nominations from the floor, it was moved and seconded that the slate be elected by acclamation.  The motion carried. 

The meeting was adjourned and the next meeting will be on September 2, 2026.
